Refashion: too small girly shirt + too large man shirt

Another refashion project.

This is one of my daughter's favorite shirt, but she outgrew it so fast, the shirt became too short for her. As an hoarder, surely I didn't have the heart to throw it away, knowing I could make something out of it.

Then, on my recent trip to nearby factory outlet, I found this blue shirt that perfectly match to the blue flower on her shirt. This size of the blue shirt was XXL, so I would have plenty of fabric to play around. And the price is super cheap, only Rp. 5000.

After a few cut, sewn here and there..then, my little girl has a new dress.

I added some stacked circles for embellishments.

Too bad I can't show the step-by-step photo. I always do my craft at night and the light is not very good for photo taking.

I still have one more extra large shirt in dusty pink and have been toying with the refashion ideas in my head. Can't wait to see what it'll turn into :)

Refashion: Mommy's blouse into strappy dress

Finally, all goodie bags order are done, now I can sew for leisure.

I don't like wearing blouse. At all. But there were times when I had to endure the torture of wearing them for work. When I resigned, I still keep some of my blouses, not to wear, but I know that I would want to do something with the fabric.

So last night, I turn one white blouse into a strappy dress for my little one. I didn't do much on this refashion, but I managed to make a matching hat for the dress.

Refashion: Mommy's dress into tiny dress with braided collar

I love the idea of refashioning old clothes and turn them into something new. So when I read an amazing tutorial from one of my favorite blog, www.makeit-love-it.com, I just knew that I had to make this cute braided collar dress for my little girl.

This is my old dress. I practically lived in it, until it had holes on the front. I didn't have a heart to throw it away, so it had been sitting in my closet for a while.

So, after a bit of snips here and there..VOILA! A new dress for Felly. This morning before leaving for work, I asked her to model it for me. Being just woken up, she was not so thrilled about the idea..

Felly: are you kiddin', mom??

Only after breakfast, she got warmed up and ready to strike few poses.

I really wished I could do the 5-strands braid, but unfortunately I didn't have enough fabric. I still had a bit of scrap fabrics, so I made a flower with vintage button. So glad that Felly likes the dress.

Refashion: Plain cardigan into girly knit top

How I love craft blog! I've been following this awesome blog, www.rufflesandstuff.com. The owner, Disney, is very creative (check out her blog and you'll be amazed) and very kind to share her works. I refashioned my cardigan using her tutorial here

So, here's the BEFORE photo:

 

My collections of plain cardigans has started to lost control, I have them in practically all colors and I even have more than one piece for some colors. The idea of collecting too many of the knitted-long sleeves outwear doesn't make any sense, specially when living in a tropical country like Indonesia, where even in the worst rainy season, it's still get quite hot.

This black cardigan has been sitting in my closet for a while and I want to make a better use of it. So I cut the sleeves (the tutorial can be found in www.rufflesandstuff.com too) and add a bit of glamor on the neckline.

Refashion: Old tattered legging into a flirty skirt

Felly needs some new wardrobes coz she has outgrown most of her clothes. So I bought some items that I can't make myself and decided to sew the rest myself. Thanks to many of refashion posts that I found during my blogwalking, I was so inspired to turn old clothes into something new and wearable. So this morning, I took my old legging and butchered it with my scissors, 45 minutes later it turned into this cute flirty skirt for Felly.

I not very good at explaining things, so instead of doing a tutorial, I'll just show the before (with the cuts that I made) and after photo

Somehow, all of our photo sessions are always ended up with her trying to grab the camera saying 'Mama, I want to take photo too!'

High heels Sandals REVAMP

I need a glamorous high heels sandals for my bro's wedding (which is tomorrow), but money has been very tight for me, therefore no budget to spend on sandals and thankfully, I've been hooked with lots of re-purpose / re-fashion ideas that I found in the blog land. So, I racked my brain to make a good use of the high heels sandals that I already have.

For the first attempt, I decided to revamp this one:

By using a pair of diamante broches which I bought for Rp. 30.000 per pair (it's about US$ 3)

I pinned each brooch on the knot of the sandals and TAADDDAAAA..!!! Instant glamour.

 This is so easy and simple, such a no-brainer so I won't even call this post a tutorial. So if you have a plain sandals or shoes that has been catching dust, let's take them out and re-fashion!
