My Proud-Mommy moment

My daughter loves to read. Her favorite lesson is literacy, she likes to read more that to count. Once she learn how to read, there's no stopping her..she reads anything from newspaper (though she doesn't understand what the news are about), bible, street signs, cereal box....

So when her school had their annual competitions and one of them is reading competition, I knew she should participate. She was very enthusiast about it, specially when she knew the winner will get a trophy. Alas, on the D-day, she got sick with flu and had to stay home. Luckily, her teacher said that Felly still participate on the next day. And she did. And she won the 2nd place. And she got her first trophy. Yaaayyy..!!!

This is my little girl, posing proudly with her trophy. I'm always proud of her, and I have every reason to fell that way...

2013!!

2012 was crazy, lots of ups and downs..mostly downs, but even through the darkest days, when we walked in God's way, nothing could break me down.

As always, I didn't post anything about Christmas and New Year. The last few months had been hectic, but in good ways. The order for my Party4Kids was piling, I was sewing like mad. But when you're doing your passion, nothing seemed hard, it was quite fun instead.

The highlight of every year of my life is of course to see my baby grows. It's hard to believe that she'll be 5 this year. It's a pleasure to see her blooms into a sweet little girl, but I kinda wish she does the growing part slowly..

Copycat go away!

I've read some blogs posted by the highly creative crafter about their reaction when they found out that their designs were copied by copycats and the copycats claimed that the designs were theirs. I would have never thought that it would happen to me, because honestly I don't think my craft is worth to copy. Now that it finally happened to me, I can really really understand how those crafters must have felt. I feel angry, upset and extremely disappointed, because I know the copycat personally.

This is the bag that the copycat bought from me. She then copied this bag, make some herself, and sells them online. She copied all the detail, and even made the same small pouch on the inside too, just like mine. She did make a itsy bitsy change. She quilted the front. But that's it.

When she bought this bag from my facebook, she told me that she was interested in opening an online store, selling handmade bags. And she added that she liked my design and thinking of copying it (what an honest copycat). I immediately blocked her from my facebook.

I know that the internet enables us to get our inspiration from other's works. But there's a big difference between getting inspired and copying. When someone's work inspires you, you grab the inspiration and translate it into your OWN idea. You alter the inspiration to suit your OWN style. Copying is simply COPYING. And seriously, how far can you go by copying someone's work? Can your business sustains if you copying someone's work?

Despite my disappointment, I try to stay positive and push myselft to be more creative

Felly's 4th Birthday

Felly had been asking us to celebrate her birthday at school. Actually, I preferred if we celebrate it at home, there would have been more time for games and photo booth and snack buffet, but it was the first time Felly ever asked for anything on her birthday, so I gave in.

Unfortunately, I was so busy at work and didn't have enough time to do a proper preparation. I even had to bring my sewing machine to the office, so I could squeezed some time to finish the souvenirs. I'm sorry baby, Mama promises that your next birthday would be much much better.

Thankfully, Felly was very happy. Especially with the pile of presents she got.

With the girls

With the boys

Cereal in white chocolate and brownies for the teachers

Bento Lunch (Chicken rice, fried noodles, sweet chicken, sausages)

Party Favors (Shaped pillow, plastic apron, painting set, cookies, muffin and chocolate milk)

Felly's School Presentation

Felly: "Good morning Mommies, good moning Daddies"
Her spelling was perfect, no mistakes were made

Patting her tummy, making phonic K sounds keh

The date was 28 November 2011.

It was Felly's School Presentation Day, she'd been practicing real hard, memorizing the alphabets. When her turn came to do the presentation, she got a bit shy but oh boy oh boy! She surely nailed all the questions asked by the teacher. I was one very very proud mama.

Orange Blossom

I don't usually post about what I'm wearing, cos I don't think I'm a fashionable person. My style is more classic casual..jeans, shirt, cardigans, all in basic colors. I'm wearing orange today, which is totally not my color, however, this batik dress is so pretty, I just can't help it but to bring it home. And while I'm out of my comfort area, I might as well throw this beige satin shoes on and leave the trusted black heels at home. The shoes have the chunkiest high heels, which I thought will be more comfortable than the regular heels. Boy, how I was wrong!! The shoes are pure torture. I can handle the pain only because they look pretty.

Sigh...the things women do for style and fashion..!

Too bad I didn't get a good shot on the shoes

Felly's first jeans

Felly is always dressed in dresses or skirts. She owned her first shorts about 6 months ago. And never had a pair of jeans.

It's not that I against a pair of jeans, heck, I practically live in them. It's just that Felly has always been a chubby little girl. Putting on a thick and stiff jeans on her seemed like  a torturous idea. Unlike jeans, cotton material is breezy and light, allows her to move freely.

But a girl needs a jeans, no matter what. It's just a matter of time until I found the perfect one for her. And I did last night. I found a pair of jeans that are not thick and stiff, with rubber waist. When she put them on, I saw that the jeans are very comfy, allows her to jump and squat easily. And the most important thing, she's happy. A happy baby means a happy mama.

Here are some photos of her modelling her new jeans.

Btw, I edited both photos using this cool website, www.picnik.com

Girls Day Out

Yesterday was a blast! Just me and Felly, we went shopping (grocery shopping actually, but shopping nonetheless) and then got our hair done.

It was Felly's first experience to get her hair cut in a salon. Usually, I cut her hair by myself and more often than not, ended up with tears and frustration. She doesn't like it when pieces of hair got to her face and neck, and she never stop to move. Then both of us get irritated.

When I asked her yesterday if she wanted to get her hair cut in a salon, she was a bit reluctant. Luckily, every mother on earth knows the power of bribery. So, with brand new painting set, new coloring book, strawberry milk and a promise of a couple of donuts, she sat herself, facing the mirror and sit quietly during the whole cutting  process. And people were complementing her on her nice behavior (A Proud Mama Moment)

I'm quite happy with the result, she looks so cute with the new haircut. And she was happy too. She just couldn't stop telling everybody about her new experience and keep showing off her new hair.

Because she was such a nice girl in the hair salon, she got her reward. A ride on this toy-car-machine-thingy. And of course, the promised hot donuts.

She hugged me on the way home, telling me how happy she was. It was a perfect mommy-and-me weekend..until she painted the wall with her new coloring set.

My baby has a fever

Hiks my little girl is down with fever.

Felly is rarely down with sickness or fever. Not even when she grew her teeth or had her vaccination shots. So when she's sick like today, my world turns gray. I miss her laughter and she doesn't sing as much as she usually does. Lucky me, she's not very fussy when she's sick. She still eats her meals, her snacks and drinks her milk.

The last time she had a fever, it was very high about 40C. She was so hot, she began to shiver..after given her medication, suddenly her temperature dropped, she was very cold and her lips turned blue. OMG, I didn't even want to remember that day anymore. It was a mother's nightmare seeing my baby in so much pain. She had to stay in the hospital for 3 days and the experience was a trauma for both of us.

Now, she was fed and will be given her med soon. She's down stair watching TV with my sis-in-law (GOD bless her heart) and from here, I can hear my baby's voice talking animatedly with her aunty. So please GOD, make the fever go away....BAD FEVER, GO NOW!!!!!!!

What we did on my birthday

Dear Husband and I have been planning to take Felly to places such as museums, beaches, theme park, botanical gardens, zoo and so on, instead of going to malls. We want her to have a real experience of those places.

For my birthday this year, we decided to go to Ancol.

We went on a gondola ride, our hand was stamped before we hopped on the cart.

Felly was freaked out a bit, but then she began to enjoy the view.

Then, we went to Seaworld (where we got stamped again), to see the fishes. We stayed there until the feeding time, where divers jumped into the gigantic fish tank and hand fed the fish one by one.

Here's Felly showing off her stamped hands. Getting stamped was the most excited part of the day for her. She showed them off to her grandma and uncles...

My sewing room

Dear Husband and I went on an home hunting on Sunday. We want to consider living in an apartment, so we went to Thamrin Residence and checked out their show unit. I lived in an apartment before, but that was when I was still a single, so I didnt have a problem with the idea of living in a tiny concrete cubicle on a high rise building. But now I have a family, I want to have a home where my child can run around, having a backyard where she can ride her bike..

Having our own home is still our biggest dream, hopefully that dream is not so far away from our reach. Whether it's an apartment or a house, there is one must-have in that home of ours...my very own sewing workshop, where I can indulge my craft passion. So I logged on to polyvore and try to create my craft sanctuary

And here it is...

No better job could compete with mine

There were times when I was passing through Jl. Sudirman, with its high rise buildings, offices, people in business suits walking by, I remembered those days when I was a part of it, when I was one of those people. I missed the morning routines of putting on make up, dressing up in my all black business clad and having people to call me 'Ibu'. Aaahhh...those days when meetings after meetings went by, when my agendas were filled with appointments with media, VIPs and suppliers, when deadlines were to be met and all the craziness that went behind the closed door of my office. I even keep my business card as a memento of my positions in that hotel.

Then, I heard tiny footsteps approaching, and a round face was poking from behind the door with the prettiest smile on her face..

And when she called me Mama, I know that there's no where else I want to be, and there are no better job in this world than being her mom. In fact, it is such a great honor for me....

new dress for my little girl

I won an auction on a friend's online shop. The item I bid was a cute little tank top dress with tiny ice creams all over it. My little girl loves the dress, she insists on wearing it right after the dress arrived. The model is very simple and sweet, it's perfect for my active little girl. When I went fabric hunting few days ago, I found a pretty pink fabric for her, so I decided to make a copy of that dress for her..I suck at sewing clothes, but this dress, I can make.....

Can't wait for Felly to put it on....I'll post the pic.

My new friend

Last night I had an order for one of my clutch from a nice lady, Ms. L. Turns out, Ms L and I live in the same area and we both are craft addicts..! So she invited me to come to her house for an afternoon chat. So I went there, she has the cutest little house, and I envy her craft rooms. She shared some tips on craft and motherhood as well. And we made an appointment to go craft hunting together...yayyy!!

This is one of those days..

During my years, there are some days when every craft that I did went wrong..making the wrong cutting, sewing the wrong part, and once, I even sow a finger. Those are the days when I told myself that I better stop before making more mistakes and take a break from my fabric and bits.

When did it start??

My mom is such a busy bee. Since I was a little girl, I'm used to see her got her hands full with cooking, baking or sewing..she always busy creating something. So you can say that my first encounter with fabrics and threads had begun in my early age. Growing up, I found out that I had this constant need to get busy all the time. I felt like I could loose my mind if I was not doing anything..So I start with small things like making my own hair crunchies, bookmarks, scrapbooking and the list still goes on until now.

I'm not really an accessories-girl, I'm definitely more into bags, clutches and wallets. Rather than buying them from stores, I prefer making my own, which are uniques and one-of-the-kinds.....
